À la fin du XIXe siècle dans une ville sans nom, Jules, un jeune scientifique plutôt rêveur, recherche les secrets de l'immortalité. Il découvre une pyramide enterrée sous la chaussée recelant un corps embaumé, mais dont le coeur bat encore. Jules part alors en quête de l'âme qui appartient à ce corps. Ce faisant, il fait la connaissance de Sophie, une jeune suicidaire de qui il tombe amoureux, et qui pourrait bien être en mesure de lui fournir quelques réponses.

At the end of the 19th century in an unnamed city, Jules, a rather introspective young scientist, seeks the secrets of immortality. He discovers a pyramid buried under the roadway containing an embalmed body, but whose heart is still beating. Jules then leaves in search of the soul that belongs to this body. In the process, he meets Sophie, a young suicidal woman with whom he falls in love, and who may be able to provide him with some answers.
